I love it when the seasons start to change. When the warm summer air begins to shift to cool foggy mornings and when the leaves transform into hues of orange and golden brown. Warm beverages start to make their debut after a long hiatus and spooky season is just around the corner.
Since this shift of seasons is one of my favorites, I decided to host an intimate gathering at my place to celebrate. Getting cozy with my friends to watch Practical Magic, enjoy midnight margaritas, and a slice or two of my dad’s ginger pound cake seemed the perfect way to commence the new season.
So, I made fun Partiful invites, encouraged my friends to come over dressed in PJs, flipped through my dad’s recipe note cards, and got to baking.
I know I’ve said this many times before and I’ll repeat it, baking is not my forte. It requires too much precision and I like to color outside the lines. However, as tedious as it can be it is always rewarding when the final product comes out delicious and flavorful.
