Lately, I have found myself rewatching all of the old Barefoot Contessa episodes on HBO MAX. I used to watch the show religiously as a young girl and admired her Hamptons housewife lifestyle. She would always make these elaborate meals for a party she was throwing, or she’d whip up something that looked divine just to have a friend over.

I’ve coveted the life she lives and have often told myself that I, too, would eventually enjoy a similar fabulous lifestyle. As I've gotten older, I have become less obsessed with the material things that life can offer and more interested in spending time with the ones that I love. I mean, quality time is my love language, after all. I have come to realize that life is what you make it, and if I want to live the lifestyle of an adored and well-taken-care-of Hamptons housewife—who uses food as a conduit for their creativity—then I will simply need to start living that way.

So, I invited my good friend Asia for dinner and thought it would be the perfect time to bust out my dad’s recipe book. Tonight, I am making his roasted lamb shoulder with cilantro pesto and a spicy red chile marinade.
